Your Shrek Essays in Three Steps

Keys for writing a funny Shrek essay

Shrek essays
If you are a school student, a Shrek essay might be one of the first writing assignments your teacher asks you to do. This is because it is a fun, quite easy topic for an essay. From the moment that every student has watched the movie, or at least has some idea on who this character is, Shrek essays are funny to write and read.
Of course, if you have never written such an essay before, you may fall into some common mistakes. For example, repeating the best jokes of the films, and avoiding a more serious topic. This won’t give you much credit (although your classmates will probably make the same). You need to write a good, outstanding essay. Why not focusing on differences with traditional fairy tales? We will tell you how to do this in three simple steps.

Step #1: Watch the movies again

In order to develop an appropriate essay writing, you can’t trust your childhood memories. Therefore, go rent the movie again (there are four films, well, at least watch the first one again!). When you turn on the DVD, take down notes on what could make an interesting essay –the use of humour, character development, quotes from the movie, etc.-

Step #2: Focus on one character

Don’t spend half of your Shrek essay telling the plot of the movie. Instead, choose your favourite characters and focus your work in them. For example, if you want to write about Shrek, start by noticing how he refers to himself as a “big, stupid, ugly ogre”, while during the film, he is shows as what he truly is: a brave, good-hearted antihero of our times.
However, Shrek is far from being the only noticeable character. Princess Fiona is the independent woman of today who at first worries about her looks, but finally finds someone who actually loves her for who she is. And, even if on the first part of the film she plays the traditional fairy tale princess waiting for Prince Charming, her role changes drastically.

Step #3: Compare this movie with popular fairy tales

Your Shrek essay could include a comparison between this film and traditional fairy tales (or other animated films, such as Pixar’s). Notice how the Shrek series plays constantly by mixing traditional elements (knights and dragons, a hanging bridge, the talking mirror, Lord Farquaad’s castle,) with contemporary details such as famous brands (check Shrek 2 and notice the signs in Far, Far Away), popular culture icons (Matrix, Justin Timberlake, Mission Impossible…). Besides, unlike traditional fairy tales, Shrek appeals to adult viewers by using irony.

We know it sounds like a lot of work. Perhaps you have never written an essay before, and this task scares you more than the Dragon guarding Princess Fiona. Just remember, you should never submit a free essay you just downloaded from the Internet. If you want an original Shrek essay, you should buy one from us. We are ready to provide all kinds of custom essays.
