Management is a soft skill developed outside the classroom with practical application. Firstly a student should assess the expectations of a reader of a management essay in order to achieve a successful outcome. It is important to note that the purpose of management unlike in a marketing essay is to put forth new concepts or to shed new light on existing information. A collection of thoughts and ideas from a number of online essays does not make a good essay. It is the novel introduction of a concept or theory that makes a good essay. However a mere introduction is not sufficient and the student needs to supply adequate examples to convince the reader of its feasibility. Furthermore, an in-depth level of critical analysis is essential for a successful management essay.

A formal description would refer to management as the process of planning, organizing, implementing, leading and controlling the work of organization members and of using all available organizational resources to reach the stated organizational goals. In simpler terms management refers to the practice of consciously and continually shaping organizations in achieving their goals. A management essay is a written composition that quite broadly describes the theories of management in relation to a particular topic given. Even though management is more or less a theoretical subject it should not be written entirely as a descriptive essay or a definition essay. Practical examples are very necessary in explaining these theories and simple descriptions of theories alone will not suffice.
